Mammoth Bowling Alley
The Mammoth Rock N Bowl is the newest attraction in Mammoth, adding to the list of things to do that don't necessarily revolve around snow, sun, or the outdoors. Perfect when weather is nasty and your legs have had enough of the hikes.
Rock N Bowl features 12 state of the art bowling alley lanes. Decorated with lasers, music and electronic scoring, it turns the old past time of bowling into a new thrill. Like many of the other ski resorts, this is the hot new activity that has become totally addicting. The facility, done to respect Mammoth's mining heritage, is anything but from 1849. The outsides has the rustic metal look of a mining town, but inside is truly state of the art. Besides the lanes, the complex has 3 golf simulators so you can practice your swing rain or shine. Table tennis and video games for the kids, and the whole upper deck is party and dining space for your banquets and festivities. But this isn't French Fries and Burgers.
French chef Fred Pierrel has raised the bar on bowling alley food. The upstairs restaurant features elk, filet, rotisserie chicken and escargot along with Fred's famous desserts all made famous when he was the chef at Tamarack Lodge - Lakefront for over 17 years. Downstairs the bar has gone gastro-pub with chicken satay, Korean beef and gooey pulled pork. and yes the proverbial French fries and burgers too.
The outdoor deck has an impressible view of the mountains and outside features regulation horseshoe pits and boccie ball courts; and, finally, a bank vault-looking space where patrons can play "laser maze." This is a whole new family experience in Mammoth, much needed and very well done.
