Yosemite Campgrounds

Campgrounds in YosemiteThe entrance to Yosemite National Park is just 45 minutes north of Mammoth Lakes off of Highway 395 in the town of Lee Vining. As you enter the park on the eastside, the famous Mobile gas station is there and inside is well known "Whoa Nellie Deli" which has amazing food... for a gas station! It's your last stop to fill up and chow before entering the park for a long time!

Yosemite has 13 popular campgrounds some of which are on a reservation system. From April through September reservations are mandatory and as this park is very busy, the first-come, first-served sites are filled at the crack of dawn each morning from May through September. The best place to check how conditions are and spaces available is through the forest service. You best source for reservations are the Yosemite Ranger offices listed below.

The road through Yosemite from Highway 395 is Highway 120 also know as the Tioga Pass. In summer it is the easiest access, especially if you're driving through to Sacramento or San Francisco, you just drive through the park. Wow talk about a scenic drive! (There is a fee however to enter the park). In winter however, Highway 120 is not plowed. Usually Cal Trans will post signs reminding you the Tioga Pass is closed. These campgrounds are the most popular in one of Yosemite, one of the greatest national parks.
