Places to Swim in Mammoth
While most complexes and hotels have pools to take a dip, nothing
beats swimming and floating in a cool lake. Splish splash around
in the brisk waters of a cool mountain
lake or relax in the warm sand of a beach.
Top spots to rejuvenate with a dip are June Lake which has a nice sandy beach. You can also rent kayaks and other play toys right on the sand. Bring a blow up raft as floating is very popular. Grant
Lake is also in June, and is just around the corner. It too has a shoreline, although you'll find more waterskiing here. Horseshoe Lake has a beach although it is not a popular place to sit, but rather to walk around and put your toes in the water. The Mammoth Lakes Community pool is called Whitmore Pool
and there is also a pool at Bishop City Park.
Whitmore Pool which is the closest public pool is on Benton Crossing
Road, near the Green Church off of Hwy. 395. The pool has different
sessions for lap swimming, free play and lessons. Please call for
the schedule as it changes throughout the season. Whitmore Pool
