June Mountain is a quiet resort just 35 minutes from Mammoth. Owned and operated by the Mammoth Mountain ski area June Mountain is a place where families which ride and ski can go and share the mountain. Known for their terrain parks and mixed skiing terrain, June Mountain isn't necessarily easy, but rather has enough variety, with long runs for beginners as well as advanced skiers. There are not many places to stay in June Lake, so most everyone stays in Mammoth, and drives each day as it is beautiful, and easy to get to... and you can be home for dinner.
Interestingly, many developers have tried to rennovate June Mountain and make it the Beaver Creek of the Eastern Sierra. However today it is still the same local mountain with amazing views, and enough runs that you can fill a couple of days of your vacation. June Mountain used to have a gondola that went from the parking lot up to the lodge. It has since been replaced with just a chair, but you don't have to have your skis on to ride it and get up to mid mountain.
Have a season pass or a day pass? Your ski pass is good at both Mammoth and June even on the same day. Nice place. Put in the bucket list of things to do when heading toward Mammoth. Read More about the lifts and runs.
