Prices have dropped for this holiday season before Christmas, so now is the time to book your Mammoth Mountain lodging for the first of many holidays. Mammoth Mountain is a great family vacation, and since kids are out of school, the ski resort is the place to let them have some fun.
While Thanksgiving is the first of the holidays to celebrate and now is over, Christmas is full of long ski days, and warm cozy fires. Before Christmas has lower rates than after Christmas when the rates are at their prime. So it is less expensive to travel before 12/26.
The most popular times to go to Mammoth are New Years and Presidents' Holiday 4 day weekend. Pricing seems to follow when kids are out school. New Years sells out whether there is a little snow or like years past, tons and tons of snow. February is the month that Mammoth normally gets the most snow, so Presidents weekend is always a sell out as well. This means you have to reserve your vacation rentals and hotels well in advance.
The other family times to travel to Mammoth are during Martin Luther King Weekend MLK, which is generally the 2nd or 3rd weekend in January where you can get 3 good days of skiing in. It is less crowded because the New Years crowd just left and the snow levels are high.
The last favorite time to ski in Mammoth is both Ski Week which is an old Los Angeles week of skiing right after Presidents when LA schools generally have semester break, and then Spring Break. In years past Spring Break starts around the end of March and goes into April depending on the school district.
Entertainment both in town and on the slopes is always going on during these popular holidays, and therefore make it a great time to come to Mammoth to ski.
