Snow began to fall on Friday 11/26, 2009 and continued on through Saturday dropping a total of 16" on the Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort. Snow is everywhere and the runs are a lot of fun with knee deep powder. The entire Main Lodge will be opening once the groomers and avalanche control have had a chance to check for safety. The storm has cleared and it looks like Canyon Lodge and Eagle will now be able to open for the Christmas Holiday weeks. Check out the great Mammoth Weather blue skies.
The average snowfalll for Mammoth is around 400 inches a year. While that varies from season to season, you can plan that Mammoth will always open for the season either the first or second Thursday in November. Mammoth generally stays open till Memorial Day weekend, Father's Day or 4th of July depending on how good the years has been. Main Lodge is always the first to open and the last to close. See you on the slopes
