Mammoth Ice Skating
Mammoth Lakes Ice Rink is a beautiful outdoor facility in an alpine
setting. Located next to the Mammoth Lakes Foundation and close to the College campus just off Meridian Blvd. behind Vons. Just follow the signs.
The rink is outdoors, so if skating and starring at beautiful vistas of the Sherwin Mountains is your thing, you're going to love it. The rink rents skates so you don't need to bring any, and they have a snack bar serving typical ice rink snacks and hot chocolate. On exceptionally cold days, there is also a fire pit going. The rink is lit for nighttime skating as well.
Skating is done in sessions so you'll want to call the Welcome Center to find out what the daily session schedule is as it does change from week to week and for holidays.
You can also skate on the many frozen lakes in and around Mammoth
and June. There is a thrill skating on a truly frozen lake, but you will need to bring your own skates to do this as their are no rentals available. During the coldest months, some of the lakes freeze hard
enough for winter fun. However, we caution you to check with the
Forest Service / Welcome Center to find out if any of the lakes are suitable. They
have final say on which are safe enough for activities if at all. As they say, you don't want to be skating on thin ice! Be safe and have fun.
