Mammoth Snowboard Terrain Parks
Mammoth takes great pride in its runs for snowboarders. Snowboarding and the Mammoth Mountain terrain parks have become such a big deal that the past 2014 Olympic Trial Finals were held here. Mammoth has send many great locals to the Olympics and works very hard to make great terrain, fresh every night so every ride is different. It truly is the best snowboarding in Southern California.
Main Lodge is always the first to open for the season and last to close. The elevation is higher so they can. Mammoth Mountain Main Lodge, off of Chair 6 is called Thunderbound Express. There are two pipes, one being our superpipe with walls 22 ft. tall. The other bit more standard, and height of the walls is always dependent on snowfall, with a little assist from the groomers. Along with rails, boxes and massive jumps, there are two tracks to take, via the Thunderbound Park under chair 6 alongside of the Broadway ski run or via Forest Trail which has some amazing low and high flying jumps. The whole area is just called Thunderbound. Both tracks circle back so you can do them over and over again.
Over at Canyon Lodge there is another snowboard terrain park with yet another set of jumps to hurdle as well as an awesome boardercross run. The boardercross run is off of the fun called "Merry Go Round" and chair 21. It has banked turns and some real high flier rollers for those that can... well do them. You can always cut short if they look too daunting. This Park is called "South Park" and there are actually two different tracks but both end up at chair 4, the "rollercoaster".
For freestylers, you are welcome to ride wherever you like at Mammoth. There are no restrictions, except one... please watch out on your heel side turns - your "blind side" for the skiers. There is no excuse for crashes, near misses or accidents of any kind. If you are not comfortable looking over shoulder... take a lesson! Mammoth is serious about out of control snowboarders and you will lose your lift priveledges. Thanks. Mammoth riders now all helmets. Many have video cameras attached. Knee pads are up to you.
We love video and are always looking for a few great videos to post. If you put together a nice one for us, we'll send you some nice swag, or get you a great deal on some lodging. Give us a shout to find out more about it. Hey why not, you're already doing it for yourself!
